Product Description Technical Details

The RAKwireless RAK19003 is the smallest carrier board in the WisBlock platform, built for engineers and makers who want to prototype quickly, test sensors, or design a compact device around a WisBlock Core. It interconnects a WisBlock Core module with two WisBlock modules via standardized expansion connectors while also providing power, charging, and development interfaces.

The board includes one reserved slot for the Core module and two module slots (C and D). The Core mounts on the top side, while the modules mount on the bottom, enabling dense builds in small enclosures. High-speed board-to-board connectors are used for reliable interconnects designed to preserve bus signal integrity, and screw mounting improves robustness for vibration-prone deployments.

Power can be supplied via 5 V USB or a 3.7 V rechargeable battery, and a 5 V solar panel connector is provided to recharge the battery in remote installations. For low-power operation, an electronic load switch allows the Core application to control power to the attached modules. The USB-C connector supports firmware upload and serial communication (depending on the Core, either direct USB or via a USB-UART converter) and also acts as the battery charging port.

For integration and bring-up, two 2.54 mm pitch headers expose BOOT, I2C, and UART signals. If your enclosure requires sensors to be placed away from the carrier, a compatible sensor extension cable can be used to reposition modules. Common deployments include compact wireless sensor nodes, environmental monitoring, industrial data acquisition, and tracking applications.

Important notes: only 3.7–4.2 V rechargeable Li-ion batteries are supported, and only 5 V solar panels should be used.
