The RAKwireless RAK13300 is a low-power LoRaWAN radio module built around the Semtech SX1262, designed for the WisBlock ecosystem. By plugging into the IO slot of a WisBlock Base board, it enables LPWAN capability for WisBlock Core boards that don’t include a built-in LoRa chip. A common setup is extending a WiFi/Bluetooth core such as the RAK11200 with long-range LoRa/LoRaWAN communications.
The module is LoRaWAN compliant and supports both LoRaWAN operation (OTAA/ABP activation) and LoRa point-to-point (P2P) mode. This flexibility makes it suitable for standard LoRaWAN deployments using gateways and network servers, as well as direct device-to-device links where a LoRaWAN backend is not required.
In real-world engineering workflows, the RAK13300 is frequently used for prototyping and integration testing: validating LoRaWAN connectivity, measuring power consumption for battery-powered devices, and evaluating regional band configurations. Typical use cases include sensor telemetry for building and industrial automation, basic monitoring systems, and LPWAN-connected IoT nodes for smart city and infrastructure projects. It is intended to connect easily to popular LoRaWAN server platforms such as The Things Network (TTN), ChirpStack, and Actility.
