The Dragino SDI-12-LB is designed to bring SDI-12 sensors into LoRaWAN-based IoT deployments. Many professional environmental, agricultural, and weather station sensors use the SDI-12 protocol, and this converter allows those sensors to be integrated into a wireless monitoring system without requiring wired backhaul to the central platform.
That is the main buying value of this product in real deployments: it makes SDI-12 instrumentation LoRaWAN-ready. This is especially useful for remote fields, greenhouses, research plots, weather stations, soil and water monitoring points, and other distributed measurement locations where SDI-12 sensors are already used or preferred. Typical applications include connecting sensors for soil moisture, soil temperature, weather data, environmental parameters, and water-related measurements into a long-range IoT system.
A key advantage is its built-in power support for external sensors. The SDI-12-LB provides controllable 5 V and 12 V outputs, allowing connected SDI-12 sensors to be powered directly from the unit. That simplifies field installation and reduces the need for separate power arrangements. For integrators and operators, this makes it easier to deploy professional SDI-12 instrumentation in wireless monitoring projects.
The converter supports periodic uplinks, LoRaWAN remote configuration, local BLE configuration, and wireless OTA firmware updates. It also includes 0–20 mA and 0–30 V measurement capability, which makes it useful not only for SDI-12 sensors but also for installations where additional analog values need to be captured in the same LoRaWAN deployment.
With its built-in 8500 mAh Li/SOCl2 battery, the SDI-12-LB is designed for long-term low-maintenance operation. For smart agriculture, weather stations, environmental monitoring, and other professional outdoor deployments, it is a practical solution when SDI-12 sensors need reliable EU868 LoRaWAN connectivity.
