Technical Details
The RAK7431 is an RS485 Modbus to LoRaWAN® converter built for industrial deployments where wired Modbus devices need long-range connectivity without running new cables. It relays Modbus data over RS485 through a LoRaWAN network so you can monitor and control RS485 endpoints remotely.
The manufacturer states 15+ km range in open environments and highlights the benefits of LoRa modulation in obstructed industrial sites such as factories, warehouses, and large buildings.
RAK7431 can address up to 16 RS485 client terminal nodes and supports multiple operating modes (polling, transparent, packet) to match different integration requirements. For installation, it supports wall mounting, DIN rail, and magnetic mounting. A wide 8–48 V DC input fits control cabinets, and the unit can power RS485 devices via a dedicated output (as stated).
