The Milesight HL31 L08EU is a Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) gateway with integrated cellular backhaul and Ethernet for flexible installations. Acting as a Wi-Fi HaLow access point, it builds a sub-GHz (850–950 MHz) network for compatible HaLow clients. By operating below 1 GHz, HaLow targets stronger penetration and wider coverage than 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, while offering more throughput than typical LPWAN approaches when your application needs to move more data.
The HL31 is specified to support up to 200 end-node connections and provides data rates up to 32 Mbps, making it suitable for higher-throughput IoT scenarios, including picture transmission with lower power consumption. For uplink/backhaul, you can use RJ45 Ethernet or the built-in 4G LTE (CAT 4) / WCDMA / GSM cellular interface via Micro-SIM—useful for sites without wired internet or when you want a backup path.
Security and operations are designed for professional networks: HaLow uses WPA3-SAE, and the gateway includes firewall capabilities (access control, DMZ, DNAT/port mapping, filtering) and multiple VPN tunnel options such as OpenVPN, IPsec, L2TP, PPTP, and DMVPN. Configuration is available via web UI or CLI, with diagnostics tools like ping/traceroute/tcpdump. A separate 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi radio is included in AP mode for device configuration only.
