This solar power kit includes everything you need to run a LoRaWAN gateway in locations where grid power is unreliable or not available. The system consists of the Battery Plus RAK9155 (lithium iron phosphate, 50Ah) and the RAK9155 solar panel kit (80W, monocrystalline), including the mounting kit and the interconnect cables between the solar panel, Battery Plus, and the gateway.
Battery Plus integrates solar charging, status monitoring, and an integrated heating function, so the system can charge even at 0°C. For outdoor deployment, the enclosure is rated IP65, and at ~8 kg it remains practical for single-person installation. In day-to-day operation, this means outdoor gateway sites can run continuously with fewer site visits. State of charge, energy flow, and system status are visible via WisGateOS locally and WisDM remotely, supporting maintenance planning and uptime protection.
In addition to the listed gateways, the kit can also be used as an off-grid power source for Chirp DePIN miners, as long as the specific miner supports the Battery Plus DC output range (12.8V nominal / 10–14.6V operating) and its power draw stays within the system’s available budget. This enables solar-powered miner deployments in remote locations without relying on mains power.
With the 50Ah battery, a gateway can run for more than 5 days without sun (as stated). The 80W panel is selected to match the system requirements and supports fast, straightforward deployment in off-grid scenarios. An optional service power adapter is available for initial charging, storage preparation, and testing without the solar panel (note: shipping SOC is stated at around 30%).
