RAKwireless WisMesh Pi HAT RAK6421 is a Raspberry Pi HAT for Meshtastic installations running meshtasticd on Linux. It connects a Raspberry Pi directly to WisBlock LoRa radio modules and WisBlock sensors. The result is a cleaner and more repeatable build than USB LoRa adapters, loose jumper wires or stacked adapter boards.
The HAT is used for fixed Meshtastic deployments: home or office base stations, elevated relay nodes, MQTT gateways, lab nodes and backbone nodes for a larger mesh. On the Raspberry Pi, meshtasticd can run alongside Linux services such as MQTT, logging, Node-RED, Grafana or local dashboards.
Two WisBlock IO slots are available for LoRa radio modules. The HAT is compatible with RAK13300 and RAK13302. RAK13300 is used for standard Meshtastic nodes with an SX1262 radio module. RAK13302 is intended for high-power builds with SX1262 and SKY66122 booster, for fixed relays, rooftop installations or backbone links. Output power and operation must match local RF regulations.
Four WisBlock sensor slots over I²C allow expansion with temperature and humidity, barometric pressure, environmental sensing, CO2, light, UV, infrared temperature, RTC or GPS modules. This lets a Meshtastic node act not only as a radio node, but also as a telemetry point or location-aware gateway. Actual sensor support depends on Meshtastic firmware.
RAK6421 uses the Raspberry Pi 40-pin header and provides fixed SPI, I²C, UART and GPIO routing. Power is supplied from the Raspberry Pi 5 V rail, with 3.3 V and VBAT outputs available. An onboard I²C ADC is included for analog input.
The HAT is HAT+ compliant and includes an onboard EEPROM for hardware auto-discovery. The system can detect the board at boot and apply the correct hardware configuration, reducing manual setup work when deploying multiple nodes with the same hardware baseline.
This variant includes only the WisMesh Pi HAT RAK6421 and a screw set. Raspberry Pi, LoRa radio module, antenna, sensors, enclosure, power supply, SD card and other accessories are not included.
