The RAK5146 PiHAT Kit with GPS is a complete bundle for building a LoRaWAN gateway on Raspberry Pi platforms and other single-board computers with a Pi 40-pin connector header. It combines a RAK5146 SPI module powered by Semtech’s SX1303 baseband processor with the RAK5146/RAK2287 Pi HAT, plus the accessories needed to bring a gateway up quickly—without designing a carrier board.
This kit variant includes GPS (with an included MHF GPS antenna). In practical deployments, GPS is commonly used to provide a stable timing reference, supporting accurate timestamping and reliable gateway operation. That makes the kit a strong fit for lab validation, field trials, pilot installations, and DIY gateways where quick setup and repeatable results matter.
Important notes from the text: Helium is not accepting these gateways onto the blockchain currently because the Alpha Hotspot program has ceased. Also per your provided requirement, this product is not compatible with Chirp DePIN or Helium. It is intended for standard LoRaWAN gateway use in typical IoT deployments.
