RAK1906 WisBlock Bosch BME680 Environmental Sensor (Temp/Humidity/Pressure/Gas)

RAKwireless RAK1906 is a versatile WisBlock environmental module when you want more than basic climate readings. Built around the Bosch BME680, it combines temperature, humidity, pressure, and an integrated gas sensor on one small board, enabling both traditional environmental logging and air-quality oriented applications.

In real deployments, RAK1906 is commonly used for indoor air quality monitoring, home automation, and building IoT—meeting rooms, classrooms, apartments, technical rooms, and any space where ventilation or comfort is managed based on sensor data. The gas sensor has a fast response time (< 1 s), and its outputs can be used with the Bosch BSEC library to calculate an IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) index, which is useful when you want a dashboard-friendly metric or a clean trigger value for alerts and automation rules.

For product builders, this module is an easy “environmental baseline” sensor: indoor air quality trackers, smart building nodes, weather/indoor stations, and simple gas/air-quality indicators. Paired with a WisBlock Core like the RAK4631, collected data can be transmitted depending on your build via LoRaWAN, LoRa point-to-point, or BLE. The module is suitable for battery-powered designs thanks to low power operation, and WisBlock can fully power down the module when you only need periodic sampling.
