RAKwireless RAK13010 WisBlock SDI-12 Interface Module (1200 Baud, 3-Wire, 12 V Sensor Supply)

RAKwireless RAK13010 is designed to add a clean SDI-12 sensor interface to WisBlock builds—useful for prototyping data loggers, running field trials, or validating sensor integrations before committing to a final design. SDI-12 is a widely used asynchronous serial protocol for environmental monitoring sensors, operating at 1200 baud on a bidirectional bus. This module handles the practical part: converting commands and data between UART and SDI-12 so your WisBlock Core MCU can talk to SDI-12 devices without extra glue circuitry.

SDI-12 networks typically run as one master with multiple addressed slave sensors. The logger (master) requests measurements from individual sensors using their unique addresses—exactly the workflow the RAK13010 supports. Wiring stays simple with the standard three lines: SDI-12_12V, SDI-12_DATA, and GND, making it easier to bring multiple SDI-12 sensors into a single logger setup.

Powering sensors is often the real-world headache in remote deployments, and that’s where the RAK13010 helps: it includes a built-in 12 V step-up supply for SDI-12 sensors (up to 300 mA) and also provides the option to use an external 12 V supply when your installation already has 12 V available or you need additional headroom.
