Light Intensity Sensor EM500-LGT – Milesight (LoRaWAN)

The Milesight EM500-LGT is a LoRaWAN light sensor for lux measurement (0–100,000 lux) with a fast 1-second response. It’s ideal for outdoor lighting control, greenhouse monitoring, and security use cases where light thresholds and trends matter. Built for harsh sites with an IP67 transceiver and IP65 light sensor.

Product Description Technical Details

The Milesight EM500-LGT measures ambient light intensity in lux for deployments where brightness data drives real actions: switching lights, managing shading, detecting failures, or documenting growing conditions. With a fast 1-second response, it can capture quick changes caused by clouds, shadows, or artificial lighting.

LoRaWAN (EU868) plus battery operation makes it a strong fit for distributed outdoor installations where power and network wiring are impractical. The enclosure is designed for harsh environments: the transceiver is IP67-rated and the light sensor is IP65-rated. A 3 m cable helps place the sensor where it measures correctly while keeping the wireless module in a protected mounting position.

Concrete real-world examples:

Greenhouses and crop production: track light profiles to support shading and supplemental lighting decisions.

Street/parking lighting: use lux thresholds for dusk/dawn control and validate schedules against real brightness.

Security perimeters: detect abnormal light changes (e.g., lighting outages, unexpected illumination).

Industrial yards and logistics areas: trend lighting performance and support maintenance planning.

Smart city / infrastructure: collect brightness data to optimize lighting strategies and energy use.

For reliability in real networks, the device supports on-device storage (1,000 entries), retransmission, and data retrieval, plus threshold alarms. Configuration is quick via NFC, or via USB Type-C and downlink. Mounting options include pole, wall, or DIN rail.
