The WSS-08 Optical Rain Gauge is a monitoring instrument designed to measure rainfall in professional weather and environmental deployments. It is intended to be used together with the WSC2-L node, which can aggregate multiple sensors to build a complete weather station—useful for sites like industrial facilities, buildings, agriculture, and research locations.
The sensor provides a pulse output, where each pulse represents 0.1 mm of rainfall. This makes it easy to count pulses in a controller or IoT node and convert them into total precipitation. In addition, the system’s pulse-counting input can also be used to connect a tipping bucket rain gauge if you want a different rainfall sensing method in your installation.
With a wide 9–30 VDC supply range and an operating range of -40 to +60 °C, the WSS-08 is suited for demanding environments. It supports rainfall rates up to 24 mm per minute and operates in 0–99% RH conditions (non-condensing).
