LoRaWAN Distance Sensor EU868 – Dragino DDS45-LB
The DDS45-LB is a battery-powered LoRaWAN distance sensor for non-contact measurement of distance, level, or presence up to 4.5 m. It is used where readings from tanks, shafts, containers, or parking bays need to be sent to an IoT server such as Kilo or other compatible platforms without routine site visits.

The Dragino DDS45-LB measures the distance to a flat surface using ultrasonic sensing and transmits the value over LoRaWAN on EU868. It fits installations where the sensor is mounted above an object or medium and where a wired setup would add unnecessary complexity.
Typical deployments include level monitoring in tanks and containers, water level checks in shafts or technical chambers, parking bay occupancy detection, and simple proximity or presence detection for automation tasks. Municipal waste operators use sensors like this above collection containers. Water utilities and infrastructure operators mount them in shafts and underground chambers. System integrators use them in parking and remote monitoring projects where one measured point needs to report back over long range.
For technical buyers, the DDS45-LB makes sense when a single measurement point has to run for years with little maintenance. Bluetooth 5.1 helps with local setup, OTA updates reduce field service work, and the IP66 enclosure fits outdoor installations and damp utility areas. Internal temperature compensation helps keep readings stable when ambient conditions change.
This EU868 LoRaWAN version is aimed at deployments where distance data is sent at intervals into an existing LoRaWAN network. That is often the simpler option compared with manual inspection or more complex measurement hardware when the job is to monitor a defined distance to a flat surface.
