The Milesight UC512 DI EA 868M is a LoRaWAN solenoid valve controller for irrigation and water distribution systems where you need dependable valve switching and verifiable consumption data. It drives two 2-wire DC 12V latching solenoid valves and counts pulse-output water meters via two digital inputs, enabling control decisions based on actual delivered volume—not just runtime.
In real deployments, the UC512 is commonly used to run two independent zones from one enclosure. A typical workflow is to open a zone on a schedule and stop it automatically once a target volume is reached (for example, “Zone 1: 600 liters”), using meter pulses to hit the delivery goal. This approach is widely used in agriculture and horticulture because flow rate can vary with pressure, line length, or clogging—so “20 minutes” doesn’t reliably equal the same amount of water. The second valve is often used for a separate irrigation line or area with a different schedule or volume target.
The pulse counting is also used for practical fault detection. If the measured volume climbs unusually fast or exceeds a threshold within a time window, the system can raise an alert—often the earliest indicator of a leak, a burst pipe, or a valve that isn’t closing properly. On municipal sites (parks, sports fields), the same data is used to automate watering while keeping site-level consumption records for accountability and cost control.
For outdoor installs, the UC512 features an IP68-rated enclosure and M12 connectivity suited to wet and harsh environments. It can execute preset commands autonomously when the network is temporarily unavailable, helping irrigation continue as configured. Commissioning is handled via NFC using a mobile app, and multicast helps apply changes efficiently across groups of controllers in larger rollouts.
