Product Description Technical Details

The RAK3172 is a low-power LoRa/LoRaWAN transceiver module built around the STM32WLE5CC (ARM Cortex-M4). It supports LoRaWAN 1.0.3 (Class A, B, and C) and LoRa point-to-point (P2P), making it suitable for standard LoRaWAN integrations or for quickly building custom long-range LoRa links.

For product integration, it can run as a LoRa modem controlled by an external host over UART using AT and binary commands. It can also operate with custom standalone functionality via RAK RUI3 APIs, which is useful when you want logic on the module itself. Typical deployments include battery-powered sensing and telemetry in agriculture, smart infrastructure, industrial monitoring, and remote status reporting—anywhere range and power budget are key.

Hardware note for this SKU: it is no TCXO and with MHF1. The manufacturer notes that the “With MHF” hardware means the RF pad pinout is internally disconnected, so RF routing is via the MHF1 path.
