Product Description Technical Details

RAKwireless RAK12025 adds a compact 3-axis gyroscope to WisBlock systems for measuring rotation speed (angular rate). It is built around the STMicroelectronics I3G4250D, a low-power angular-rate sensor designed for strong zero-rate stability and sensitivity consistency over temperature and time—practical benefits when you need repeatable behavior across real deployment conditions.

The module supports different motion dynamics through selectable full-scale settings of 245, 500, or 2000 dps, covering everything from gentle motion to faster rotations. Output includes 16-bit rate data and 8-bit temperature data, which can be used for monitoring or compensation depending on your firmware needs.

Real-world applications include:

Robotics and stabilization, feeding angular-rate data into control loops.

IMU prototyping, combining gyro + accelerometer (and optionally magnetometer) for orientation estimation.

Motion and vibration analysis on tools, devices, or mechanical assemblies.

Mobile system tracking, using angular rate as a core motion signal.

Integration options include I2C or SPI, plus two digital output lines (interrupt and data ready) for event-driven sampling. The module runs on 3.3 V and lists current consumption of 5 µA to 6.1 mA depending on operating mode. Form factor is 10 × 10 mm.
