Product Description Technical Details

The RAKwireless RAK1905 is a compact WisBlock 9-axis sensor module designed for reliable motion and orientation tracking. Built around the TDK MPU-9250, it combines a 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis accelerometer, and 3-axis magnetometer—a practical foundation for prototyping, integration testing, and product development where consistent motion data matters.

You can tune the measurement ranges to match your dynamics: the accelerometer supports ±2 g, ±4 g, ±8 g, ±16 g, and the gyroscope supports ±250, ±500, ±1000, ±2000 °/s. The magnetometer provides a full-scale range of ±4800 µT. For embedded developers, the integrated Digital Motion Processor (DMP) can help support motion-processing workflows depending on your firmware approach. Data is accessed via I2C.

Paired with any WisBlock Core module, RAK1905 becomes a ready-to-deploy motion node. Depending on the Core, you can forward data over LoRaWAN, LoRa point-to-point, BLE, or WiFi. Real-world use cases include:

Robotics & mobile platforms: tilt/orientation feedback, stabilization, motion profiling, telemetry

Industrial monitoring: tilt/motion event detection on moving assemblies and equipment

IoT asset monitoring: detect movement/rotation/tip-over and trigger rules or alerts

Navigation & orientation concepts: heading/orientation support for indoor or GPS-denied deployments (system-dependent)

The module is also positioned for battery-powered designs, with stated current consumption of 8 µA to 2.7 mA depending on mode.
