Motor Control Module for DC and Stepper Motors – RAKwireless RAK17000

WisBlock IO module for driving two DC motors or one stepper motor. The RAK17000 is based on the Texas Instruments DRV8833 and is built for compact motion control tasks in battery-powered devices, small automation builds, and robotics prototypes. Motor power can be supplied either externally or from the WisBlock Base battery.

Product Description Technical Details

The RAK17000 is a WisBlock motor control module for small low-voltage drive tasks. It mounts into the IO slot of a WisBlock Base board and handles the control of two DC motors or one stepper motor.

That fits compact mechanical assemblies, small actuators, movable flaps, light transport or positioning functions, mobile devices, and prototypes where motors need to be controlled directly from a WisBlock setup. For developers and integrators, that is cleaner than building a separate motor driver stage outside the platform when sensing, control logic, and actuation need to stay in one system.

At the center is the Texas Instruments DRV8833. The supply voltage range is 2.7 V to 10.8 V. Power for the motor and driver can come either from an external source or from the battery on the WisBlock Base. Source selection is done with a 2.54 mm jumper. That is useful when one build can run from a simple battery setup, while another needs a separate motor supply.

The module also supports output current adjustment. The default maximum output current per bridge is 0.85 A. That makes the RAK17000 suitable for small to mid-range DC motors and compact stepper motor applications within the specified voltage and current range.
