The Milesight EM500 W050 is built for deployments where reliable distance measurement matters most—without contact probes, moving parts in the medium, or complex wiring. Mounted above the target, it measures the distance to a liquid surface or object using ultrasonic waves. From that distance, you can derive level or fill status for water assets, process tanks, or storage points.

The W050 variant covers 0.3 to 5 m and specifies ±1% FS accuracy. It’s well suited to many outdoor and industrial monitoring points with mid-range distances, especially when equipment needs to stay operational through weather, dust, and sun. With an IP67-rated and UV-resistant enclosure, it’s designed for long-term outdoor installation.

Concrete real-world examples:

River and stream level monitoring: track distance to the water surface and derive level trends; trigger alerts at thresholds.

Retention basins and channels: monitor rising levels and spot unusual changes to support pump operation planning.

Pits and pump sumps: early warning when levels rise fast (change alarms) before a site becomes critical.

Water tanks and process vessels: monitor levels without placing hardware in the liquid—useful when access is difficult or fouling is common.

Open containers in industrial sites: distance measurement for process checks or simple inventory visibility.

Wireless reporting uses LoRaWAN (EU868) with OTAA/ABP (Class A). Commissioning is practical via NFC, with USB Type-C configuration/console and downlink configuration supported. For reliability, the device supports on-device data storage (1,000 entries), data retransmission, and data retrieval, plus threshold alarms and change alarms.
