Product Description Technical Details

The Dragino SN50v3-NB M16/GE is not a fixed single-purpose sensor. It is an open NB-IoT sensor node designed as a hardware base for custom IoT endpoints. The device is aimed at developers, system integrators, and technical teams who need to connect existing sensors or their own electronics to a rugged battery-powered cellular node. Instead of serving one predefined measurement task, the SN50v3-NB is built as a flexible field platform for custom deployments.

Typical use cases include smart building projects, environmental and infrastructure monitoring points, agricultural systems, tank and level monitoring, meter retrofits, technical shafts, machine environments, and other outdoor sites where individual sensors or field signals need to be sent over NB-IoT. It is especially useful where a full panel controller would be excessive, but multiple interfaces and flexible sensor integration are still required.

The node provides digital I/O, one-wire, UART, I2C, and switched power outputs for external sensors. That makes it possible to connect simple state signals, contact inputs, temperature probes, custom add-on boards, or serial sensor modules. For prototyping and low-volume deployments, this is practical because existing sensor hardware can be reused and moved into an NB-IoT system with limited extra hardware.

One of the main points of this product is its open-source approach. The SN50v3-NB is suited to projects where firmware needs to be adapted, sensor logic extended, or an entirely custom device function built on top of the base platform. For developers, it is also relevant that the device is based on an STM32L0x microcontroller, which is a familiar low-power embedded platform.

The M16/GE version is the variant with M16 cable entry. This version is battery-operated and not solar-powered. The 8500 mAh Li/SOCl2 battery is intended for long service life. BLE configuration and OTA updates simplify setup and maintenance, while MQTT, MQTTs, TCP, and UDP provide different integration paths to IoT platforms.
