The Dragino S31-LB is built for temperature and humidity monitoring where the sensing element should not sit directly inside the main device enclosure. Instead, it uses an external 3 m SHT31 probe. This is especially useful where the electronics housing needs to stay protected or mounted away from the actual sensing point, while the probe is placed exactly where temperature and humidity should be measured.
Typical use cases include utility rooms, storage spaces, greenhouses, electrical cabinet areas, production zones, irrigation installations, building service rooms, and sheltered outdoor points. The external probe also makes the device practical for ducts, enclosures, protective housings, or other installations where space is limited or where the measurement point is physically separated from the wireless node.
The SHT31 sensor from Sensirion is intended for stable and accurate temperature and humidity measurement. The probe is fixed in a waterproof anti-condensation housing for long-term use. This makes the S31-LB a good fit for projects where more than occasional spot checks are needed and where reliable environmental data is expected over time, for example for climate monitoring, condition tracking, storage conditions, or simple alarm handling.
For operators and integrators, the main value is the combination of external probe placement, long battery life, and LoRaWAN connectivity. The sensor supports temperature and humidity alarms as well as datalogging. This allows threshold violations to be reported quickly and helps preserve readings during temporary network interruptions. The LB version uses an 8500 mAh Li/SOCl2 battery and is intended for long-term deployment at fixed sensing points.
