Detailed description (with industries & use cases)
The Dragino WL03A-LB is a LoRaWAN rope-type water leak sensor designed for practical, area-wide leak detection in technical rooms and sensitive indoor infrastructure. Instead of watching a single point, you lay a leak detection rope/cable on the floor along the places where leaks typically show up first. When water is present on the cable, the WL03A-LB triggers a leak event and uplinks the alarm via LoRaWAN (EU868) to your network server / IoT platform.
For larger spaces, the key advantage is that the sensing line is extendable: you can expand coverage with additional leak ropes/cables to protect long pipe runs, full room perimeters, or wider technical areas. This makes it easy to build a “detection route” around boilers, pumps, valves, and joints, or to cover entire corridors and perimeter zones.
Common industries and real-world use cases:
Boiler rooms / mechanical rooms: Along pipe runs, around boilers, pumps, valves, and condensate drains.
Server rooms & data centers: Under raised floors and around rack areas to detect water early.
Facility management: Utility rooms, risers, pump rooms, dense piping zones.
Industrial sites: Cooling water and utility circuits where downtime is costly.
The device sends periodic status data (typically every 2 hours) and provides useful event insight: it counts leak occurrences and calculates the duration of the last leak event. Configuration is straightforward via Bluetooth (BLE 5.1), parameters can be adjusted remotely via LoRaWAN downlink, and firmware can be maintained through wireless OTA updates. Each unit ships with unique LoRaWAN keys for quick onboarding.
