Clear allBuy LoRa antennas and IoT antennas — 868 MHz, LTE, GPS
Antennas for LoRaWAN, Meshtastic, cellular and GNSS: whip and fiberglass antennas for 868 MHz, magnetic-mount and adhesive antennas for LTE/NB-IoT, plus active GPS antennas. For gateways, sensor nodes and trackers — indoors and outdoors (IP65+).
Choosing the right antenna for maximum range
Key factors: frequency band (EU868 for LoRaWAN and Meshtastic), gain (dBi), connector (SMA, RP-SMA, N-type, U.FL/IPEX) and mounting location. Higher gain focuses the signal horizontally — ideal for flat terrain; hilly environments do better with 2–3 dBi. Outdoor gateways benefit from fiberglass antennas with lightning protection, compact nodes from flexible whip antennas. Matching cables and adapters are in the accessories category.
Choose an 868 MHz antenna: band, connector and mounting
| Selection | Example in our catalog | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Compact sub-GHz antenna | RAK 2 dBi antenna, 860–868 MHz, RP-SMA | Frequency range and matching RP-SMA connection |
| External fiberglass antenna | RAK 5 dBi antenna, 863–870 MHz, N-type male | Cable, mating connector, bracket and weatherproof installation |
Check the connector and center contact: SMA and RP-SMA are not freely interchangeable. An adapter does not solve a frequency mismatch. Keep antenna cables as short as practical and account for cable loss.
Does a higher-gain LoRa antenna increase range?
Not automatically. Higher gain changes the radiation pattern, so alignment with distant devices remains important. Consider mounting height, obstacles, cable losses and the permitted transmit power for the actual installation. Compare reception before and after a change under similar conditions.
Match the 868 MHz antenna to your LoRaWAN gateway or Meshtastic node. Check each product page for its connector, frequency range and included components. An EU868 antenna is not automatically suitable for a different regional frequency plan.
