DC Current Sensor 0–3 A RAKwireless RAK16000 (TI INA219BID)

The RAK16000 is a WisBlock DC current and voltage monitoring module based on the Texas Instruments INA219BID. It measures 0–3 A and 0–26 V over I2C, enabling straightforward power calculations (W = V × A). A practical choice for energy, battery, and load monitoring in embedded and IoT systems.

Product Description Technical Details

RAKwireless RAK16000 is a compact measurement module for WisBlock builds when you want clear visibility into DC power usage without designing a discrete measurement circuit. Using the TI INA219BID, it measures DC current from 0 to 3 A and DC voltage from 0 to 26 V. With those two values, you can compute power (P = V × I) and log consumption over time—useful for debugging, optimization, and operational monitoring.

Common real-world use cases include:

Battery and solar systems to track load current, charging behavior, and consumption trends.

Embedded prototyping and validation, comparing sleep vs. active current and verifying power budgets.

IoT condition monitoring, flagging abnormal current draw from stuck actuators, failing peripherals, or overload conditions.

Energy logging, building dashboards or alerts around watts/amp-hours in remote deployments.

The INA219B offers up to 0.5% max accuracy over temperature, which is a strong fit for many field applications. The onboard 100 mΩ shunt resistor supports resolution down to 0.1 mA (Current_LSB), helping you detect smaller changes in consumption, for example when switching operating modes. The I2C interface keeps firmware integration simple.
