The RAK11720 is a stamp-style wireless module built around the Ambiq Apollo3 Blue MCU (AMA3B1KK-KBR-B0) and the Semtech SX1262 LoRa chip. It supports LoRaWAN and LoRa point-to-point communication and also includes Bluetooth Low Energy 5.0 on the same module.
The module has the same size and pinout as the RAK3172. Existing designs can be reused without changes. Swapping the module adds BLE support while keeping the same PCB layout.
This version comes with an MHF connector for the antenna. External antennas can be connected directly, which helps keep the radio link stable, especially over longer distances. The module is intended for the EU868 frequency band.
LoRa and BLE on one module make it useful for many IoT setups. Typical uses include building automation, sensor networks, smart city devices, and industrial monitoring systems.
The RAK11720 ships with RUI3 AT command firmware. It is compatible with projects based on RAK3172 and RAK4631-R. Custom firmware can also be developed using the RUI3 API.
